Before you fly
Visas, by passport.
Chinese passports
India issues e-Tourist visas to Chinese citizens again: 30 days for US$25, one year for US$40, five years for US$80, usually within 72 hours. Business visas are issued too, and since 1 January 2026 an e-B-4 production-investment visa covers up to six months of installation, quality checks, training and vendor development — allow 45 to 50 days.
Bangladeshi passports
India reopened tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens on 28 June 2026, through the visa centres in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna. Business visas need an Indian invitation; we provide it.
Pakistani passports
India suspended visas for Pakistani citizens in April 2025. Until that changes we cannot arrange travel to India on a Pakistani passport — we meet in Dubai instead.
Philippine, UAE and most other passports
Apply online for an e-Visa — tourist or business — before you fly. A business e-Visa needs an invitation letter from an Indian company; we issue one for your meetings.
Visa rules change; we confirm yours before you book. Checked October 2026.
Getting there
Direct from China again.
To Delhi
Direct from Shanghai (Air India, China Eastern), Beijing (Air China) and Guangzhou (IndiGo), restored through 2026.
To Kolkata
IndiGo flies from Shanghai daily and from Guangzhou; China Eastern from Kunming — the shortest hop between the two countries.
From the Gulf and Southeast Asia
Daily connections through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Singapore and Bangkok to every Indian metro.
Inside India
Delhi to Mumbai or Bengaluru is about two hours by air. We fly between cities and drive within them.
Where business happens
India is a set of markets, not one.
Delhi NCR
The capital, the regulators and the north's distributors. Gaffar Market and Nehru Place for phones and IT; Noida for phone and electronics assembly; Gurugram for corporate offices.
Mumbai
Finance, media and the west's trade. Lamington Road for electronics, the port at Nhava Sheva, and Bhiwandi's warehouses.
Bengaluru
India's technology capital: electronics design, start-ups, and e-commerce companies.
Chennai
Cars and electronics manufacturing around Sriperumbudur, and one of India's busiest ports.
Kolkata and Patna
The gateway to the east: Bihar, Bengal and the north-east, a different market from the south, and the closest flights to China.
Gujarat and Pune
Manufacturing states with industrial parks and engineering clusters — for plant visits and suppliers.
On the ground
How we run an India week.
Plan by zone, not by day: Delhi NCR is three cities, and crossing it at peak time takes more than an hour.
A car and driver stay with you all day; between cities we fly.
November to January brings fog and smog to the north: we build in buffer time for morning flights.
June to September is monsoon — business carries on, but leave room in the plan.
Foreign visitors can now pay like locals with UPI One World, set up at the Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports. Cards work in hotels and malls.
Many Indian partners are vegetarian; dinners are planned with both menus in mind.
Guests from China
What our guests from China need to know.
WeChat is blocked
WeChat and several Chinese apps have been banned in India since 2020. They work on your Chinese roaming plan, not on an Indian SIM — and Indian business runs on WhatsApp.
Interpreters
Mandarin–English and Mandarin–Hindi interpreters for meetings; English carries most business conversations.
Chinese food
Kolkata's Tangra is India's Chinatown; Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru have Chinese restaurants we use for business dinners.
The right visa
Engineers and technicians should travel on the e-B-4 or a business visa, not a tourist visa — we prepare the application pack.
Border areas
Ladakh, Sikkim and the north-east need special permits that are generally not open to Chinese passports. We plan around them.
Same-day follow-up
Our India team writes up every meeting the same evening, in English and Chinese.

Questions
Asked before every India trip.
Which visa should my team use?
Tourist visas are for tourism. Meetings need a business visa; installation, commissioning, training and vendor development need the e-B-4. We check what your team will do and prepare the right application.
When is the best time to come?
October to March. The north is hot from April to June and wet from June to September; Delhi has fog and smog in December and January.
Can you set up meetings with distributors?
Yes — that is the point of the trip. We book distributors, chain buyers and marketplaces before you land, based on your product and price.
Do my products need certification?
Many electronics need BIS registration before they can be imported. We tell you what applies before you meet buyers — try our entry estimator.
